Le jardin rentre dans l’appartement avec cet art venu du Japon. Les bonsaïs sont des répliques miniatures des arbres qui poussent en pleine nature. Le terme bonsaï signifie littérairement en japonais : arbre cultivé sur un plateau.
Conseils
Plantez les bonsaïs dans un petit pot en terre drainante, qui favorise l’évacuation de l’eau, et aérée pour que les racines ne pourrissent pas. Utilisez un terreau neutre, afin de mieux gérer l’apport d’engrais en fonction des besoins. Les bonsaïs seront exposés de préférence à la lumière du soleil ou à la mi-ombre pour certaines espèces, dans un endroit aéré.
La Taille
On distingue 3 types de taille des bonsaïs:
La taille de structure sert à poser les bases de la structure de l’arbre (son tronc). Elle se pratique en hiver pour éviter une trop forte déperdition de sève
La taille d’entretien s’effectue tout au long de l’année, et sert à affiner la forme du bonsaï : réduire le nombre de rameaux, éclaircir…
La ligature consiste à améliorer la forme (inclinaison) de l’arbre, à l’aide de fils en cuivre ou aluminium entourés sur le tronc et les branches des bonsaïs. Elle peut se faire toute l’année, mais faites attention à ne pas abimer les feuilles au moment du débourrement (stade d’éclosion des bourgeons). La ligature reste en place de 6 mois pour les feuillus, à 1 an pour les conifères.
L’arrosage
L’arrosage du bonsaï s’effectue régulièrement par pluie fine au dessus des feuilles lorsque la terre de surface est sèche. Arrosez jusqu’à 2 fois par jour en été. En revanche, évitez de le faire en hiver. Evitez la stagnation de l’eau qui peut provoquer le pourrissement des racines.
Apportez aux bonsaïs de l’engrais principalement au printemps et en automne. Diminuez l’apport en été et stoppez-le en hiver pour permettre le repos végétatif de l’arbre. Privilégiez cet apport sous la forme organique, elle évite le surdosage qui occasionne des brûlures.
Le rempotage du bonsaï doit s’effectuer tous les 3 ans en moyenne. Plus fréquemment pour les jeunes arbres que pour les arbres matures. Il permet de renouveler le substrat appauvri et d’éliminer les racines trop longues. N’hésitez pas à rempoter régulièrement pour laisser plus d’espace à votre bonsaï.
